Joe McNally is not only a well-known photographer (who just happens to shoot with Nikon equipment!), he's a great writer, too. His tribute to former major league pitcher Mark Fidrych is both moving and inspiring.

My son caught his first fish tonight. Not bad for a kid who doesn't really like the outdoors.

I brought my wife with me to Myrtle Beach to this year's CREATE South conference, where I participated in a discussion panel on faith and community specifically is they relate to technology. The first image is the incredible view from our hotel room. The second image shows the smoke from the wildfires that had plagued the area all week. If you look hard, just above the tree line, the smoke from the fires ten to twelve miles away is visible. And, contrary to media reports, no, Myrtle Beach did not burn down. It was pretty amazing to see how sensational the media outlets outside the Grand Strand area made the story seem. For example, according to the news stations in the Augusta, Georgia area, there probably shouldn't even be a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina right now.

Supreme Court Rejects “Stimulus” Lawsuit
As the article states, this isn’t a win for Governor Mark Sanford or for Attorney General Henry McMaster. Perhaps it’s only a temporary respite, especially given the ruling’s hint that the General Assembly is “authorized” to appropriate the federal stimulus funds (an idea that just about every Constitutional scholar argues is unconstitutional).
On a side note, congratulations to the SC Supreme Court Justices for forcing me to look up the word “justiciable.”

I captured these two images during one of my son's soccer games. Yes, they happened while play was live. Who cares where the ball is if you can swing around with your best friend and see how far you can tuck your head into your shirt, right?
